I live in Conroe, Texas, and I worship at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, also in Conroe. I am 16 years old. I’ll be attending the ELCA Youth Gathering in Detroit July 15-19 with my youth group, Fusion.
I’m most looking forward to meeting everyone. After visiting Detroit earlier this year for the ELCA Youth Leadership Summit and seeing the diversity and different personalities, I can’t wait to meet new people, learn about their beliefs and listen to their stories. I believe this will help me grow as a person.
Another thing that I’m really looking forward to is our service day. I love helping people, and I am thrilled to volunteer with people from all around the country. I’m very excited to get out there and start helping the city in any way I can.
Overall, I’m ready to go to Detroit and have some fun. I’m ready to meet some cool people with the same beliefs as me, hang out and get to know them during our adventure. My goals for the trip are to make friends, help the people who need it right now and have a good time spreading God’s word in a way that people will notice and want to be a part of. It’s going to be amazing!
