“As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience” (Colossians 3:12).

Prayer
God of kindness, teach us how to have patience in hard moments, to act with love, and to share your gentle compassion in our every interaction. May those we encounter this weekend feel your holy light emanating through us. Amen.

Journal prompt
Definition: Kindness, noun, the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate.
Write about how you’ve engaged with kindness this week; take a moment to hold gratitude for how kindness has shown up in your life.

Act of kindness
Free: Write a letter to a neighbor or co-worker, encouraging them.
Inexpensive: Visit your local coffeehouse and buy a beverage for the person behind you in line.
Investment: Invite your pastor or a lay leader in your congregation out for brunch following this Sunday’s church service and treat them to a meal.

Affirmation
I am a kind person, able to listen to others without judgment, carrying the gentleness of the Spirit, which guides my interactions.
