A new, four-session study guide was released by the ELCA this month, in connection with Earth Day. “Our Kairos Moment: A Study Guide on Earth’s Climate Crisis” is based on the ELCA’s 2023 social message “Earth’s Climate Crisis” and invites participants to learn about the impacts of climate change and how to respond through videos, storytelling, Bible studies and interactive activities.
The guide’s sessions, each intended for a 60-minute small-group learning experience, are designed to dig more deeply into major themes from the social message. The end of each session features “Make One Change,” an activity that encourages and equips members group members to take action through simple opportunities to care for God’s world.
Although related to Earth Day, the study guide can be used at any time. By the end of the last session, groups will have a display of all the “changes” members made during their time together, serving as a tangible reminder of active hope.
