Every Monday, Living Lutheran offers a week’s worth of prayers from the ELCA resource Prayer Ventures, which can be downloaded here. These petitions – one for each day this week – are offered as a guide for your own prayer life as together we pray for the needs of the world and give thanks for the ministries of our church.
Monday, Sept. 28: With thanksgiving and compassion, we remember in our prayers the many workers who harvest crops and glean fields during the fall so that others will not go hungry.
Tuesday, Sept. 29: As we talk, listen and act about the reality of racism within us and around us, we ask God to instill in us honesty, forgiveness and a dedication to the work of reconciliation that does not come easily.
Wednesday, Sept. 30: In our sighs, crying, search for words and silent prayers, we trust that God hears us and understands – and answers.
Thursday, Oct. 1: We remember and give thanks for the ministries and leadership of our synod bishops as they gather for the Conference of Bishops in Chicago.
Friday, Oct. 2: We give thanks for the faith, gifts, service and achievements of our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members and their families, and pray that our congregations are welcoming, safe places for everyone to thrive.
Saturday, Oct. 3: We remember women who are fighting or recovering from breast cancer, that they have access to the health care and support they need and that their faith will be a source of strength and hope.
Sunday, Oct. 4: For the blessings of creation and God’s love for every human being, we give daily thanks and praise to God.
